A natural extension of buying wines for the restaurant list is visiting the growers & producers themselves at home. The relationships built up in doing this have been further cemented by their return visits to Ransome's Dock both as customers, and also as the focus of our programme of Winemaker Dinners over the past few years. We have been lucky enough to see the likes of: Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon, Dave Powell from Torbreck, Barossa Valley, Miguel Merino from Rioja, Dennis Horgan of Leeuwin Estate, Margaret River, Jeffrey Grosset from Clare Valley, Chris Gallo of Gallo Sonoma St. Hallett's Bob McLean, Antoine Toublanc of Gracia de Chile, Tim Knappstein of Lenswood Vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, Jˇsus Madrazo of Contino, Rioja, Miguel Roquette, Quinta Do Crasto, Portugal The programme is hopefully without end - we simply wait for the winemakers to let us know their travel plans, and if we can, arrange a small dinner for 12 or so people to meet and talk with them, and to share their philosophy and wines with some food sympathetically paired to show us why each winemaker does something truly special.
